I was surprised that your article did not address the primary reason for the difference in power between the F-35 and the F-22. Namely, the F-22 has two engines while the F-35 has only one. As a result, the F-22 has a total thrust without afterburners is around 52,000 lbs. The heavier, single-engined F-35 has around 28,000 lbs of thrust without afterburners.
