Mr. Kantor
No offense intended, but you misuse – like too many other on-line authors – the phrase “begs the question”. Begging the question is a logical fallacy also known as circular reasoning. It occurs “when an argument’s premise assumes the truth of the conclusion, instead of supporting it.”
For example: “Have you stopped beating your wife yet?” That is begging the question, because it assumes the wife is being beaten, for if she isn’t how could one stop what is not happening.
Circular reasoning.
When discussing the age of the oldest active duty aircraft carrier, you wrote:
“As a result, many of the carriers afloat today have been in service for decades.
This begs the question, ‘What is the oldest aircraft carrier that remains in service?’
No. This RAISES the question, what is the oldest aircraft carrier…”

Damn. You’re 100% correct! I appreciate your comment (so many are negative for no reason), and I’ll be sure not to misuse this phrase in the future!!
